Note (General): 本稿の課題は、呉服太物における販売価格の設定がいかなるものであったかを明らかにすることである。分析の主対象は、京都に本家・本店を構え、下総国に佐原店・佐倉店を開いて営業販売の拠点とした呉服太物商奈良屋杉本家とし、大黒屋富山家や三井越後屋の事例も参照することにより検討を進めた。大黒屋富山家の史料中から、利益上乗せ価格の計算法である「内増」「外増」という算法の記述を発見した。本稿ではこの算法を使って、奈良屋の販売価格がどのように設定されているのか、その過程を明らかにした。その結果、下り物は商品カテゴリーごとに定められた〔利益率〕によって仕入価格から〔予定利益率価格〕を算出し、その価格を基準にして売価である「入値」を商品ごとに決定していることがわかった。また、京本店から販売店に送られる商品には、本来の2倍の札値が付けられ下されており、販売店ではその札値を半額にして販売されていた。越後屋も奈良屋同様に倍札、大黒屋は3 倍の札値を付けていたことが確認できた。こうした慣例的な札付けは幕府による正札令発布まで続いた。奈良屋の関東物は、下り物とは別の〔利益率〕が設定されていた。商品カテゴリーにより3 分類される利益率には、京本店へ送金する仕入価格の1 割が加味されていた。また下り物とは異なり「外増」で計算された利益分が上乗せされ、札高として設定されていることが明らかになった。
