小中学校の社会科および高等学校の地理で行われている身近な地域学習のための教材開発を行った.大阪府において野外調査を行った結果,商業・業務用地と住宅地とがはっきりと分かれている地域では,飲料自動販売機は学習効果が高い調査対象であること,また,比較的規模が大きい戦前からの市街地があるところでは,路傍祠(地蔵堂など)は学習効果が高い調査対象であること,があきらかになった.また,中学校において授業実践を行った結果,このような調査にS(地理情報システム)の利用が有効であることがあきらかになり,インターネットGIS を利用した大阪府の空中写真地図を公開した。
