Note (General): 高速で回転している車輪をゆっくりかたむけると、かたむけた方向とは逆の方向へ力を受けます。回転する物体は角運動量(=角速度×質量)をもっています。角運動量が大きな物、つまり高速で回転していたり重かったりすると、軸の方向そのものを変えるためには大きな力が必要なのです。例えば、自転車について考えましょう。自転車が横に倒れるとき、車輪の回転軸の傾きはどんどん変化していくのですが、走っている自転車の車輪は回転しているので、その変化が妨げられます。また、速く走るほどジャイロ効果も大きく、倒れにくくなるのです。
