皇女の婚姻が否定される例として、斎王経験者である場合が挙げられる。後朱雀天皇皇女・娟子内親王の場合は、斎院経験者であることが婚姻を「密通」として捉えられる原因となった。そして、この密通を歴史物語が語る際には、『伊勢物語』が用いられる。『栄花物語』の引用による叙述方法を引き継いだ『今鏡』の方法を中心に、『伊勢物語』の世界と重ねられる皇女の密通について論じた。
