- 本研究は、小中一貫教育や連携教育の動向を捉えるとともに、発達、教育制度・行財政・経営、教育内容・方法、学校施設をめぐる接続や連携の課題を明らかにすることを通して、これからの義務教育の質保証の在り方としての「義務教育学校」（仮称）にかかわる課題を解明することを目的とする。具体的には、(1)義務教育段階に特徴的な児童生徒の発達に関する理論的、実証的研究の推進、(2)「義務教育学校」の新しい機能や役割の考察、(3)義務教育９年間の一貫した教育内容・方法や生徒指導等の在り方の考察、(4)小中一貫校にふさわしい学校施設の在り方の検討等をねらいとしている。・1年目の各都道府県・政令指定都市・中核市教育委員会への照会調査のデータを基に、追加的な調査を実施し、全国的な動向分析及び事例調査を行った。・導入可能性分析として、距離の視点からの分析を行い、導入に当たっての課題提示を行った。
