- 1990 年代以降に進められた高等学校教育改革は、総合学科の創設、単位制の拡充、中高一貫教育の制度化等に見られるように高等学校教育の制度を柔軟なものにし、高等学校の多様化、特色化を押し進めることとなった。一方、生徒数の減少等の要因は高等学校の再編を課題とし、多くの都道府県で統合を含めた再編整備が進められている。本調査研究は、これらの高校教育改革の到達点(成果と課題)を明らかにするとともに、改革の成否を規定する諸条件に関する知見を得ること、また、今後の高校教育の在り方を検討するに際しての視点と方法、枠組みを提案することをねらいとしている。
