- 現在いじめ問題は、我が国の教育における最大の課題の一つとなっている。しかし、いじめ問題は我が国だけでなく諸外国においても深刻な問題として早くから取り上げられ、多くの調査研究や対策が講じられてきている。この国際シンポジウムは、我が国の教育関係者のいじめ問題への認識を深め、この問題の解決に資するため、諸外国のいじめ問題の専門家を招璃し、文部省と国立教育研究所との共催により行われたものである。平成8年6月24日(月)に、国立オリンピック記念青少年総合センターで開催されたこのシンポジウムは、全国各地の教育委員会、教育研究所、学校などでいじめ問題に取り組んでいる関係者約360人の参加を得て、極めて盛会のうちに午前10時から午後4時30分までの長時間のプログラムを終えることができた。この報告書は、シンポジウムのために各シンポジストが用意した発表用ペーパーの全文と当日行われた討論・質疑応答の要旨とで構成されている。発表用ペーパーは各シンポジストから提出された英文原稿の全文を翻訳したものである。
