過去に飛鳥寺およびその周辺で出土した文字瓦の再調査をおこなった。平瓦を指す「女瓦」の文字を刻む７世紀後半の文字瓦は、「女瓦」と記した最古級の文字資料である。「白髪部」と刻む文字瓦（７世紀後半か）は、瓦生産に関わった工人の集団名または氏族名とすれば、飛鳥寺の造営にともなう労働編成の在り方を考えるうえで興味深い。このほか、断定しがたいものの飛鳥寺創建期の可能性も考えられる文字瓦を確認した。
