Note (General): 県町遺跡は女鳥羽川と薄川が形成した複合扇状地の先端部に立地する。今回の調査地点は県町遺跡の東部に位置し、現在の薄川から500ｍ程離れた、遺跡内でも高い場所に位置している。これまでに14次にわたる発掘調査が行われており、弥生時代中期後半から平安時代後期までの竪穴建物150棟以上が発見されている。松本市街地東部の代表的な集落遺跡である。　今回の発掘調査は長野県松本県ヶ丘高等学校の小体育館建設事業に伴う緊急発掘で、702.7㎡の面積を調査した。発見された遺構は平安時代の竪穴建物址2棟、土坑、流路、集石である。出土した遺物は土器陶器が中心で、土師器・須恵器・黒色土器・灰釉陶器などが主体を占め、わずかに緑釉陶器・中世陶器が伴う。特に竪穴建物址から出土した土器群は9世紀中頃の様相を示す良好なものである。　調査地内には弥生～古墳時代に形成された砂礫層と、平安時代以降に起った薄川の氾濫性の堆積層が検出され、古代の遺構面がかなり破壊されていた。調査地周辺に薄川の氾濫がたびたび及ぶ中で1,000年以上にわたって維持された集落であることがうかがえた。
