Note (General): 【笹平遺跡及び奥州道中】今回の調査で、当該域は縄文時代および古代に狩猟場として用いられていたことが判明した。加えて、住居状遺構の存在と土師器甕片の出土から、古代には居住域としても利用されていたと考えられる。東区には、調査範囲を縦貫するように奥州道中が存在する。ただし、少なくとも当該域は近代以降の拡幅を受けておりそれ以前の構築痕跡を留めておらず、残存路盤は昭和まで使用されていたことが判明した。拡幅時期がいつなのか、それを推定する具体的な物的資料はないが、1876（明治9）年と1881（同14）年の明治天皇東北巡幸に伴い馬車通行のため各所で道路幅を2間(3.6m)にする拡幅が行われたとされ、当該域もその工事がなされた可能性がある。【矢盛遺跡】矢盛遺跡は、縄文時代の狩猟採集の場、平安時代の集落、中世の居館・集落、近世の集落跡である。今回の調査区は遺跡の北端部にあたる。検出された近世民家2棟（掘立柱建物跡）は何れも曲り屋の形態をしており、曲り屋の系譜を考えるうえで興味深い事例といえる。
