Note (General): 加茂城跡は加茂川左岸で標高約102mの丘陵頂部に位置する戦国時代の山城跡である。眼前に加茂川を望み、水陸交通の要衝を押さえた立地環境にある。山城のほとんどは大字加茂字要害にある。周辺には根子屋、根古屋などの字名が残る。縄張りは南北方向約400m×東西方向約420mの範囲で確認される市内屈指の大規模な城郭である。主な遺構は大小さまざまな曲輪50以上、箱堀主体の堀切9、通路2などである。中世陶器、輸入陶磁器、和鏡、石臼などが表面採集されている。
