Note (General): 安松田遺跡は泉佐野市の南西部に位置する。平成13年に新規発見遺跡として周知され、れまで府営泉佐野東羽倉崎住宅の建て替えに伴って 2 度の発掘調査を実施した。今回は第 3次調査であり、200基以上の粘土採掘坑を検出した。粘土採掘坑からは土師器や瓦器とともに1000点を超える瓦の破片が出土した。瓦の特徴からら、鎌倉時代再建期の東大寺で使用されたものである可能性が高まった。しかも瓦の型式的特徴や共伴した土器類から、重源が大勧進を務めていた再建初期に製作されたとみら。また粘土採掘坑は瓦の素材確保のために掘削されたもので、採掘された粘土と瓦胎の一致していることが胎士分析・蛍光X線分析によって明らかになった。史料に全く残っていない重大な歴史事実が、考古学調査の成果により明らかにできた。
