Note (General): １太田本郷城跡　戦国後期の平城跡である。平成3年・12年の調査により、南辺及び東辺の堀跡及びそれによって囲まれた曲輪面を確認した。東辺の堀の規模は、最大幅10m、深さ1.2mである。南辺の堀内からは300点を超えるかわらけ、珠洲・青磁、赤漆片、煉瓦片が出土した。堀底面からやや浮いた状況であることから、城館構築後しばらくの期間経過してから一括投棄されたものと考えられる。　かわらけの年代は16世紀後半のものであり、太田本郷城が上杉方鯵坂長実のち河田長親の拠る陣城として表れる元亀～天正年間に該当している。これらの遺構・遺物は、その陣城にかかわるものと考えられる。　出土したかわらけの一つには、「八月三十日」等の月日を含む16文字の墨書がある。史料には8月30日の記録は見えないものの、元亀～天正年間の上杉氏関連の戦いに関連し、戦勝祈願等祭紀行為として書付廃棄されたものと推定される。２千石町地内埋没樹木群　千石町遺跡基盤の自然堆積層、地下6m付近から多くの埋没樹木群が掘り上げられた。樹種はクリ・コナラ属で、AMSによる年代測定により約2,300年前と判明した。洪水による流木であり、樹根が健在なことから、比較的近傍地に自生していたものか。周辺でも河川流路跡が面出されており、その方向から神通川による洪水跡と推測される。
