明石城下町町屋跡は、旧明石市街地の西側に位置し、明石川西岸の沖積地に立地している。本報告書における本発掘調査地は、山陽電鉄西新町駅の駅舎跡、仮設軌道敷き及び旧軌道敷きである。調査では、西新町駅東側踏切部分を南北に通る市道（旧西国街道）にほぼ直行する、屋敷境と考えられる東西方向の溝、町屋境と考えられる...
