Note (General): 古墳時代前期の掘立柱建物・土坑、平安時代後期から鎌倉時代にかけての掘立柱建物・柱穴列・溝・土坑などの遺構が確認できた。特に平安時代末から鎌倉時代の遺構と遺物は、区画溝で区画された内側を柱穴列で区画した屋敷地縁辺部の様子を示すものと考えられた。本調査地の北にある丘陵上には、平安時代末に野間で最期を遂げた源義朝公の伝説が残る美浜町町史跡である千人塚があり、その関連性が想定される。平安時代後期から鎌倉時代にかけての野間地域の歴史を解明する上で、貴重な資料になるものと思われる。
