Note (General): 篠場瓦窯では、７世紀末から８世紀初頭にかけての瓦窯が３基発見されている。築造順序は、３号窯・２号窯・１号窯の順である。瓦窯は３基とも構造が異なっており、３号窯は直立煙道式緩傾斜窯、２号窯は有階有段式窖窯、１号窯は有階無段式窖窯である。窯跡や灰原からは多量の瓦が出土している。各種の瓦が出土しており、大和・山田寺出土のものと同形態の螻羽瓦や、平瓦を粘土素材とする無文鬼瓦、藁座痕が残る平瓦制作時の截断片、三角形の粘土板を用いて制作された丸瓦など、全国的にも希少な資料が出土している。また「廣山」「山作瓦」の文字が指書きされた文字瓦の存在も確認されている。３基の瓦窯はいずれも瓦陶兼業窯で、数は少ないが須恵器も焼成されており、１号窯では静岡県で初例となる環状瓶が出土している。静岡県内でも初期の瓦窯であり、瓦の技法や文様は遠江地域の古代寺院の瓦に大きな影響を与えている。篠場瓦窯の西側に隣接する上海土遺跡では、中世末から近世にかけての掘立柱建物が３棟検出されており、同時期の土器や陶磁器が出土している。
