Note (General): 土気東遺跡群は、千葉市東南端にあたる緑区土気町・小食土町に位置し、西側には土気南遺跡群、東側には昭和の森遺跡群と接している。本遺跡群は、鹿島川と村田川源流域の分水嶺付近の標高90 ～ 94mを測る台地上に立地する。計12 ヶ所の遺跡は、小支谷と遺構の分布状況から、黒ハギ遺跡、奥房台遺跡・五十石遺跡・五十石西遺跡、北河原坂第１遺跡・長塚遺跡・上塚遺跡、文六西第１遺跡・文六西第２遺跡・文六東第１遺跡・文六東第２遺跡・宮台遺跡の計４ヶ所のグループに大別できると考えられる。本遺跡群の時代は、旧石器時代・縄文時代・古墳時代・奈良～平安時代・中・近世と多岐に渡るが、古墳～平安時代が本遺跡群の中心を成している。集落跡は、古墳時代後期から継続的に営まれており、中でも軒数が945軒を数える黒ハギ遺跡は、土気地区における拠点的集落跡拠点的集落跡であることが判明した。出土した遺物の中で、特に石製権、把手付中空円面硯、墨書土器は、地域史の古代史像を構築する上で重要な存在である。
