Note (General): 盛南地区遺跡群は，平安時代初頭の延暦22年（803）に朝廷が造営した古代城柵「志波城」の南東方に位置し，７世紀より続く一大勢力「志波エミシ」が10世紀まで拠点とした古代集落群が主に確認されている。本書掲載のうち，盛南地区遺跡群で最大規模の古代集落である台太郎遺跡では，計８棟の竪穴建物跡（住居）を精査し，多くの遺物が出土しており，遺跡中央部及び東部の集落の様相を明らかにすることができた。また，遺跡東部に位置する不整方形の区画の堀について，埋土下層よりかわらけが出土したことにより，古代末の12世紀中葉～後葉の年代であることが明らかとなった。また，不整五角形で一部二重に堀が囲む中世の居館跡の南西部において，二重区画の内側にあたる古い時期の堀のコーナー部分を確認することができた。台太郎遺跡の西方に位置する飯岡沢田遺跡では，古代の竪穴建物跡（住居）２棟を精査し，過年度の調査成果と合わせ，遺跡の西半部が古代集落の閑散とした縁辺部であったことが明らかとなった。
