Note (General): 志波城跡は，平安時代初頭の延暦22年(803)に朝廷が造営した，古代陸奥国最北端・最大級の城柵である。郭内北東部で実施した第101次調査では，平安時代の遺構は土坑l基を検出したのみで，周辺地区が古代の遺構の希薄な地区であることが確認された。東官街域北部で実施した第102次調査A区では，平安時代・志波城期の遺構が検出されず，本調査区に東官衝を構成する掘立柱建物等が展開しないことが確認された。政庁北方で実施した第102次調査B区，第103次調査A・B区では，第102次調査B区で平安時代・志波城期のカマドを持たない小形の竪穴建物跡1棟と土坑2基を検出したのみで，掘立柱建物等は検出されず，北大路東方となる当該地区には官街域が展開しない可能性があることが確認された。外郭西辺部で実施した第104次調査では，築地版築・築地外溝・築地内溝が初めてセットで検出され，外郭西辺の区画施設が，志波城跡の正面である外郭南辺と同規格の築地塀であったことが確認された。
