Note (General): 白保竿根田原洞穴遺跡は、2008年の洞穴測量調査時に、人骨や貝類などの遺物が回収されたことにより発見された。その後、2010年8月～11月までの4ヶ月間にわたって新石垣空港建設に伴う緊急発掘調査が実施された（第1次調査）。調査中には様々な分析が並行して行われ、今から約20,000年前（未較正）とする先島諸島初の後期更新世人骨の出土など重要な成果が得られたことから、遺跡は空港敷地内に現地保存されることが決まった。　この緊急調査ののち、遺跡を適切に評価し、保存する目的で2012年度～2016年度の5ヶ年計画により、文化庁補助を受け重要遺跡範囲確認調査を実施した（第2次調査）。調査は第1次調査の手法を踏襲して実施し、約38㎡を調査し、遺跡の詳細な範囲や遺物の出土状況等を把握することができた。　その成果は2017年３月に「総括報告書」としてまとめたが、2018年2月に沖縄考古学会と合同で開催したシンポジウムとそれに続く白保竿根田原洞穴遺跡調査指導委員会によって、さらなる課題が提案され、総括報告編を補足する必要が生じた。　本報告書は『補遺編』として、「総括報告書」を補足するとともに、新たな分析・研究成果を盛り込んだものである。
