Note (General): 近世の道路は、出土遺物や絵図の検討から、敷設時期は18世紀代と考えられる。規模・構造ともに全国的にも大規模な部類に入り、地域の重要な交通路と位置付けられる。　中世の土地利用は、大小の掘立柱建物・井戸・大型土坑等で構成される居住域（1期）から火葬場（2期）へと変遷する。時期は1期が13世紀後半を中心とし、2期が14世紀後半以降と考えられる。1期の居住域は、境塚遺跡の「百津潟の拠点的な町場」と道路で結ばれており、両遺跡の密接な関係がうかがわれる。
