Note (General): [大平４遺跡要約] 大平4遺跡の平成24から26年度調査の報告で、同遺跡の3冊目の報告書となる。遺跡はJR木古内駅から北東へ約2km、孫七川左岸の海岸段丘上に立地し、標高は12から23mである。遺構は竪穴住居跡12軒、土坑21基、Tピット４基、焼土31か所、剥片集中15箇所が検出されている。竪穴住居跡12軒は縄文時代中期後半が主体で、これらは集落を構成すると考えられる。土坑は相対的に少ないが、この中には墓と考えられるものが３基ある。時期は早期後葉と中期後半である。剥片集中は31か所と多い。早期後葉から前期の遺物を伴うものがある。明治初期の土坑３基が検出されている。坑内から銃弾とマッチの軸を含む木製品がみつかったものもある。遺物は94,704点が出土している。土器・土製品は中期後半と後期前葉のものが多い。石器・石製品は剥片以外ではスクレイパーやつまみ付ナイフ、たたき石、半円状扁平打製石器などが多い。
