Note (General): 本書は、これまで実施された吉野ヶ里遺跡の発掘調査のうち、平成13～23年度に行った確認調査の成果と、弥生時代の墓地についてまとめた報告書である。吉野ヶ里遺跡は、地元の教育委員会の協力を得て、佐賀県教育委員会が主体となり、継続して調査が行われてきた。平成4年に神埼工業団地計画に伴う調査の概要報告書が刊行されているが、それ以降の調査成果を含めて総括した報告書は刊行できていない。本書では平成13～23年度に実施した調査成果や、弥生時代の墳墓に関する総括及び補遺として、現段階での調査成果をまとめている　吉野ヶ里遺跡では、前期の墓はごくわずかしか確認されていない。中期初頭（城ノ越式）に丘陵上の各地に墓地が営まれはじめ、中期前半（汲田式期）・中期後半（須玖式期）に甕棺墓の最盛期となる。志波屋四の坪地区を代表例として、吉野ヶ里地区Ⅱ・Ⅲ区、吉野ヶ里丘陵地区Ⅲ区では大規模な列状埋葬がみられることが大きな特徴である。中期末（立岩式期）まで甕棺墓地が継続している地区が多い。後期前半（三津式期）には土壙墓が増加するが、集団墓地としては終焉を迎える。
