Note (General): 史跡整備事業の実施にあたり、事業計画地である史跡東部方格地割の柳原区画で実施した昭和49年度から平成22年度までの調査成果(遺構)の総括を行った。柳原区画は、平安時代に入り、区画中央に四面庇付建物が何度も建替えられており、前面の空閑地(「ニワ」)とあわせて、平安時代を通した斎宮の政治的・儀礼的空間であったと考えられ、「寮庁」の一画であったと判断されるようになった。
