Note (General): 春日市に所在する特別史跡水城跡（大土居・天神山）の整備基本計画策定のため、土塁の構造等を解明する目的で発掘調査を実施した。　天神山水城跡では、土質の異なる土を数cmの厚みで積み上げていることがわかった。横断面土層の観察では土塁の前面の外側に傾斜する積み方で、これまでの水城跡各所で確認されている内傾斜気味の積み方とは明らかに異なる。また、土塁の幅を確認するため、南側２ヵ所のトレンチを入れたが、明確な範囲の確定には至らなかった。　大土居水城跡では、昭和47年の福岡県教育委員会による発掘調査地点を一部再調査した。その結果、積土は高さ数十㎝の単位で一層数cmの厚みで山なりに積みあげ、土塁内側（太宰府側）にわずかに傾斜を持たせていることが分かった。また、新たに自然丘陵部から土塁に平行にトレンチを入れ、自然丘陵部と土塁の境を確認した。
