Note (General): [虎杖浜2遺跡要約] 　遺跡は白老町の西端部、標高約50ｍの段丘上に位置する、縄文時代前期の貝塚を有する集落跡である。昨年度までに計9,290平方メートルの発掘調査が行われ、今回は第６次調査である。　主な遺構は、縄文時代前期の盛土遺構と土坑墓である。盛土遺構は台地の縁辺部に帯状に分布し、土器・石器等、特に10cm前後の礫を多量に含み、細かい焼骨片や炭化物も多い。盛土の裾部では、焼土が列状に形成されており、付近からは砂や粘土の堆積範囲が検出された。土坑墓は2基検出された。それぞれ坑底西側から、紐状および輪の形状を含む漆塗りの装飾品（塗膜のみ残存）と、装身具または遺体の痕跡とみられる微細な骨片が出土した。漆塗りの装飾品は、縄文前期では希少であり、北海道内で３例目である。　遺物は合計30,900点あまり出土した。土器は約4,600点である。縄文前期の円筒土器下層ａ式を主体とし、ほかに静内中野式、縄文早期アルトリ式が多い。石器等は約26,300点である。礫およびフレイクが多量だが、定形的石器ではつまみ付きナイフ・石斧・石皿・台石・北海道式石冠が多い。また盛土遺構中からシカを主体とした焼骨片・炭化物等を回収した。
