Note (General): [キウス５遺跡要約] キウス５遺跡は、石狩低地帯東辺の馬追丘陵から西流するキウス川右岸の丘陵下端部とキウス川旧河道の谷底平野に立地する。当報告はこのうちの旧河道を含む低位部を対象とするものである。旧河道は捉えられただけでも10条あり、キウス川の洪水堆積を主因として、旧石器から縄文・続縄文・擦文・アイヌ期とすべての時期の遺物が混在している。この河川堆積によって形成された低位平坦面には擦文期までには土坑などの小規模遺構が散在するのみであるが、近世アイヌ文化期には平地住居が建ち、畝を持つ畑が耕起されている。攪乱された土砂に混在する遺物では、旧石器が５点検出されたほか、縄文早期･中期･後期･晩期の土器･石器(緑泥石岩製大珠も１点)が多い。また縄文期とアイヌ文化期の種々の木製品がみられる。縄文期ではキウス型木槌の出土、アイヌ期では畑やその集落に関係するものとみられる杵･箕･鍬･自在鉤･曲物･桶･建築材などが特筆される。
