Note (General): 史跡東谷風穴蚕種貯蔵所跡の主要な遺構である1号風穴について、平成30年度の調査に続き、せり出した石積みの西壁東側を除き、移動式小型クレーンにより内部の崩落礫を搬出し、建屋の基本的構造の把握をめざした。その結果、土台については転用材が使われ、昭和26年の写真に写った部材が遺存し、地下2階の柱が取り替えられ、地上部の建屋は北側へ拡張されており、昭和26年の写真では1階に棚は無いが、床の梁には棚が存在したことを示す柱用お柄穴が有る等、建屋の構造とその変遷に係る多くの知見を得た。また、出土遺物の中に、「蚕種貯蔵箱」と墨書きされたブリキ製箱形容器が出土し、蚕種貯蔵風穴時代の資料が遺存していたことが確かめられた。また、種子貯蔵のために使用された多くの金属製容器の中に、進駐軍の神戸基地から放出されたことを示す「RELEASED BY KOBE BASE QM」と型によりプリントされた金属製容器が出土し、蚕種貯蔵風穴として機能した時代背景を示すものとして、注目される。
