Note (General): 神庭岩船山古墳は、荘原小学校の敷地内にある古墳時代中期中葉の前方後円墳である。全長49.2ｍと推定復元されている。　今回の調査では、古墳に隣接する旧荘原幼稚園解体工事に併せ、工事立会・範囲確認調査を実施したが、古墳に関連する遺構や遺物は確認できなかった。この度の調査成果に過去の調査記録も併せて検討することで、古墳の築造方法を推定することができた。　上塩冶横穴墓群は、236基以上の横穴墓からなる県内最大の横穴墓群である。今回の試掘確認調査では、神戸川に面する丘陵斜面において、横穴墓の前庭部あるいは墓道と考えられる遺構を２箇所確認した。これまで遺跡の範囲外であった場所での新発見であり、上塩冶横穴墓群の南端を把握できたことになる。横穴墓本体の調査は実施できなかったが、出土遺物から大谷編年出雲５期（飛鳥Ⅰ併行）以降に造墓された可能性があることがわかった。
