Note (General): 今回の調査区は弥生時代前期の集落域の縁辺部にあたり、木棺墓や掘立柱建物、さらに木製品水漬け遺構や炉跡など多数の遺構が検出された。また、遺物についても溝に廃棄された多量の土器のほかに竪杵や平鍬などの農工具、さらには石錘や土錘といった漁撈に関わる遺物も出土した。それ以外にも石棒・人形土製品・陽物形木製品など祭祀に関わる遺物も出土し、徐々にではあるが弥生時代前期のムラの様子が明らかとなってきた。一方、弥生時代後期から古墳時代中期の遺構面においても集落域を検出することができ、掘立柱建物や井戸などの遺構や、弥生時代後期の線刻を有する土器や古墳時代前期の陶質土器などが出土した。　これらの集落域は、これまで重要な池島・福万寺遺跡の調査で明らかにされてきた生産域を営んでいた人々の社会を復原する上において非常に成果を得られたものといえる。しかし、今回、検出されたのは集落域のごく一部であり、その全容を明らかにするには今後の調査成果を期待したい。
