Note (General): 明和池遺跡では、山田川の前身となる弥生時代～古墳時代の旧流路を検出した。流路東側の微高地上では弥生時代末～古墳時代初頭の土器群を確認し、周辺に集落が展開していた可能性が窺える。古墳時代中期以降は流路が流れを変えたようで、安定した土地が形成されるようになり、居住域が拡大している。特に中世後半段階には多くの井戸や土坑が掘られ、多様な遺物が出土することから、大規模な居住域が営まれたと考えられる。　吹田操車場遺跡では、従前の調査でも多数確認している群集土坑を検出し、掘削された範囲が広がることを明らかにした。　西の庄東遺跡では、近代以降の土地改変の影響が色濃くみられたが、古代（奈良～平安）には居住域や耕作地が営まれていたことを確認した。中世段階には、粘土採掘土坑と考えられる群集土坑や吹田城に関わる可能性を持つ大溝が掘削されていることが明らかとなった。
