Note (General): 当遺跡における発掘調査は、1981年に発掘調査が開始され、現在も継続中である。既往の調査において、条里地割の変遷や、古墳時代～弥生時代前期中頃の水田面などの農耕関連遺構と古墳時代の初頭～前期および古墳時代中期後半～後期にかけての集落関連遺構などが重層的に検出されている。　今回の調査は、縄文時代から弥生時代にかけての堆積物が非常に厚く、古墳時代以降の堆積が各時期の人為的行為によって大きく削平を受けており、東の06-2調査区ほど遺存状況が悪かった。しかし、これまでの各調査区同様に池島地区の基本的な遺構面が確認された。特筆されるのは、06-2調査区の水田部分と考えられる位置から小形仿製鏡がみつかっている。遺構については確認できなかったが、興味深い。また、弥生時代の各面については、従来からの各面の水田遺構のほかに特筆すべき成果があがっている。それは06-2調査区東端部の第13面で、同時期の集落域と考えられる遺構群が確認されていることである。遺構は、土坑・ピット多数を確認し、出土土器は少ないものの、一部の土坑からは魚類の骨なども確認されている。これまで、当遺跡内では弥生時代の居住域が確認された例は無く、今後の池島Ⅱ期調査の中で、これがどのように広がるのか興味深い。
