Note (General): 熊野遺跡は、低丘陵の頂部から裾部にかけて立地する古墳時代、飛鳥時代、平安時代、中世の集落跡である。　２次にわたる調査で、竪穴建物跡が12 棟、中世の方形竪穴遺構が１棟、掘立柱建物跡が６棟、柱穴列が２列、性格不明遺構が２基、土坑が34 基、溝跡が８条、堀跡が１条検出された。遺物としては縄文土器、弥生土器、土師器、須恵器、赤焼土器、青磁、石器、石製品が出土した。　古墳時代では前期の竪穴建物跡から土器が比較的多く出土した。前期でも古い段階の土器群とみられ、当該期の新たな資料が加わった。飛鳥時代後半から平安時代前半では竪穴建物跡や掘立柱建物跡などが確認されたが、官衙施設の存在が明らかになりつつある原遺跡や付近に造営されている横穴墓群との関連が注目される。中世では鎌倉時代後半の方形竪穴遺構が確認されたが、宮城県内の当該遺構の性格・用途を検討する上で貴重な１例となった。
