墳丘盛土の事前に丘陵を削平して基盤造成を行っている。墳丘保存状態は良好で、前方後円形を呈する。葺石等の外護施設は確認されなかった。墳丘盛土の事前に丘陵を削平して基盤造成を行っている。出土土器や炭化物の年代測定等から３世紀前半の築造と推定した。墳形は前方後円形でありながら、埋葬方法や墳丘の築造方法、出土遺物等は弥生時代の伝統を引き継いでおり、弥生時代終末期から古墳時代初頭の様相を示していると思われる。東海地方における古墳出現の状況を考える上で貴重な資料と言える。
