Note (General): [石橋地蔵久保遺跡要約] 主要地方道太田大間々線と主要地方道足利伊勢崎線が交差する太田市石橋町石橋交差点の四方向側の拡幅工事に先立って発掘調査が実施され、古墳時代後期、奈良・平安時代の集落跡が検出された。集落の初源は６世紀後半頃で、主体は８世紀中葉から後半にかけてである。整理作業中に、本遺跡の東、約700mの位置から古代新田郡家政庁跡の遺構が検出された。本遺跡のすぐ北側には新田郡家関連寺院跡と考えられる寺井廃寺が所在し、以前からこの地域一帯が古代新田郡の中枢地帯とみられてきたが、新田郡家政庁跡の発見によって、本遺跡も郡家及び郡家附属寺院などに近接した官衙周辺集落としての性格がより明確になった。そのことを裏付けるような、硯や「新田」「入田」などの郡名が記された墨書土器が出土している。
