Note (General): [上り熊遺跡1 要約] 標高約8mの台地先端部に立地する中世を主体とした集落跡であり、掘立柱建物跡41棟のほか溝・土坑・井戸・土坑墓などが検出された。集落は大型建物を中核として大別5期にわたって継続的に形成されており、棟方向や墓の頭位規制などにきわめて組織的統制のとれた集落構成の状況をうかがうことができる。また、地形的にほぼ完結した立地や検出遺構の配置状況等からみて、当時の集落構造を復元する上でも貴重な資料である。さらに、屋敷墓14基の中には頭部を欠如したものや、遺体を直接石で覆ったものなど特異な埋葬例が認められ、中世の埋葬習俗の多様なあり方をうかがう上で注目されよう。出土遺物は、中世の土師器・瓦質土器を中心とするが、旧石器時代から近世まで多岐にわたっており、長期にわたるこの台地での生活の痕跡をとどめている。特に縄文時代の土製耳飾の出土は県内でも数少ない類例として貴重である。
