Note (General): [下小屋原遺跡要約] 　高島遺跡群は下小屋原遺跡と高島館址の２遺跡が存在し、鬼怒川低地を望む岡本台地東縁辺部に位置する。微視的には下小屋原が南流してくる江川の右岸台地上にあり、高島館址は江川が東方へと流れを変える左岸の台地南端部にそれぞれ立地する。　下小屋原遺跡からは、古墳時代後期〜平安時代の住居跡12軒の他、縄文時代の袋状土坑1基と時期不明の掘立柱建物跡11棟・陥し穴状土坑5基・土坑45基・井戸跡4基・焼土跡2基・溝11条等が確認された。特に古墳時代〜平安時代の住居跡は、西側の西赤堀遺跡で確認された大きな集落の周辺集落と言える。　 [高島館址要約] 　高島遺跡群には下小屋原遺跡と高島館址の２遺跡が存在し、鬼怒川低地を望む岡本台地東縁辺部に位置する。微視的には下小屋原遺跡が南流してくる江川の右岸台地上にあり、高島館址は江川が東方へと流れを変える左岸の台地南端部にそれぞれ立地する。　高島館址は現宇都宮市域と接する上三川地域に位置し、戦国時代には存在が確認される宇都宮氏家臣の居館跡である。館址は台地端部を垂直にカットし、旧江川の自然河道を内側に付け替え堀的に利用していることが確認された。他に古墳時代後期〜平安時代の住居跡６軒・土坑２基（方形竪穴遺構１基）・溝跡１条を調査した。
