Note (General): [御殿前遺跡要約] 調査範囲は西ヶ原貝塚の北側、豊島郡衙遺構が広がる御殿前遺跡の南端にあたる。縄文時代では前期前半の住居跡1軒を検出した。同期の住居跡は過去の調査により周辺200mの範囲に9軒が検出されている。これらは重複しているものもあり、すべてが同期に存在したわけではないが、複数軒が同時存在していたことも考えられる。弥生時代では後期の住居跡2軒を検出した。周囲は同期の住居跡が多数分布しており、弥生後期にあっては、当地は集落の一部にあたると考えられる。古代では掘立柱建物と溝跡を検出した。これらの遺構は豊島郡衙の南端にあり、溝は郡衙の南限を示す可能性がある遺構である。中世では段切り、多数のピット、土坑などからなる遺構群を調査した。遺構群は調査範囲外の東側に広がっており、この範囲は北区教育委員会において1990年に発掘調査が行われ、『御殿前遺跡3』（1992　北区埋蔵文化財報告10集）として報告されている。今回の調査では、重複する多数の土坑とともに火葬跡2ヵ所、地下式坑2基も検出しており、また土坑の多くは墓とみられる。中世ではこれらの遺構が関連して葬送の場・墓地を形成していたものと考えられる。
