Note (General): 当遺跡は、仁淀川右岸、本流に面した丘陵地及び丘陵裾の低地にそれぞれ立地する。試掘調査により新たに発見された遺跡であり、古代〜中・近世を中心とする遺構と遺物が確認された。調査の結果、城ヶ谷山遺跡では平安時代〜江戸時代を中心とする掘立柱建物跡、溝等、集落を構成する遺構が確認された。遺物は、古代では畿内系の緑釉陶器や黒色土器、中世では青磁などの貿易陶磁器類など他地域からの搬入品が確認されており、仁淀川流域の川津、宿的な性格が考えられる遺跡である。鎌田遺跡は貢山城跡の麓にあり、平安時代〜南北朝期の溝跡が確認され、貢山城跡の機能時期の一端を知る遺構・遺物が確認された。貢山城跡は、これらの遺跡を見下ろす丘陵上に立地しており、「往還」及び「渡し」を監理する仁淀川と街道を監理する性格の城と考えられる。
