Note (General): 九宮１遺跡、九宮２遺跡は菖蒲町東端部の埋没ローム台地上にあり、周囲には田園風景が広がっている。遺跡はこの水田から微高地状の埋没ローム台地上にかけて広がりを見せており、九宮２遺跡では調査区の東際が遺跡の端に当たる。　九宮１遺跡では縄文時代中期終末の住居跡が１軒検出され、九宮２遺跡では縄文時代後期前葉の住居跡３軒、埋甕6基、古墳時代前期の住居跡3軒と祭祀跡1ヶ所が検出され、さらにそれぞれ多数の土壙とピット跡も検出されている。今まで遺跡発見例の少なかった埋没ローム台地上で、複数の遺跡が発見されたことは重要で、今後この地域においても発見される遺跡の増加が期待されるところである。
