Note (General): [殿久遺跡要約] 殿久遺跡は、美祢市域南東の中山間地に位置し、伊佐川に面して北東に延びる標高約200ｍの丘陵上に立地する中世（室町時代）の集落遺跡である。掘立柱建物・土坑・溝・柱穴などの生活痕跡を示す遺構が確認された。中世の土師器・瓦質土器・陶器等が出土するとともに、中国からの高級輸入磁器（青磁・青花）が、規模が大きいとはいえない山間地の集落において、比較的高い割合で出土したことは、本遺跡の一つの特徴である。遺跡の所在する場所は、有力守護大名の大内氏の家臣であった内藤氏が拠点とした荒滝山城に隣接し、周辺には中世山城が点在するという軍事的要件や、美祢市域と宇部市域とを山間地越えで結ぶ交通路上の関所的要件を兼ね備えていた。この立地環境が、特徴的な山間集落の形成をもたらした一因と推測される。また、石鏃が出土し、縄文時代に狩猟に関わる場所としての活動が営まれたことも確認された。美祢市内での当該地域における初めての本格的発掘調査であり、歴史的資料や情報の少なかった山間地域での中世の集落遺跡に関する新たな知見を得ることができた。。
