Note (General): [中ノ浜遺跡要約] 　中ノ浜遺跡は、山口県下関市豊浦町大字川棚地内の川棚川河口付近に形成された砂堆地の西端部に立地する。調査区南側に位置する?地区では、中世期に該当する小児骨が出土した土坑墓や柱穴群が検出された。一方、北側に位置する?地区では、遺構はまったく確認されなかった。遺物については、主に?地区の各遺構や厚く堆積した黒色有機質砂層から、土師器や瓦質土器、陶磁器など中世後半代を中心とする遺物が多く出土した。SK７、SP61の上面からは、炭化米が盛られた土師器杯が出土している。このほか弥生時代の遺物として、土器片や磨製石剣片、?地区からは縄文土器片や中世土器片が少量出土した。また、輸入銭や中世期の土錘も出土している。さらに、県内では、出土例が少ない15〜16世紀の李朝の雑釉陶器が多く出土していることが特筆される。今回の調査では、弥生時代の埋葬施設は確認できなかったため、墓域の周辺部であったと推察されるが、中世期後半には、本遺跡は近隣集落の縁辺部であり、響灘に面する小規模な漁村として機能していたこと、さらに、15世紀から16世紀にかけては、大内氏の庇護のもと、貿易港としての側面をもっていたであろうことが、出土遺物から推察できる。
