Note (General): 道路建設に伴い調査を実施した。その結果採掘坑を11か所確認した。このうち最も古いのは平安時代もしくはそれ以前で、長方形の石材を採掘していたことから、寺院などの建築部材だった可能性がある。椋谷石切場の最盛期は中世で、採掘坑ごとに切り出す石材の大きさを決めていたようである。１キロ東方に位置する楠木石切場の出土品と比較すると、製品近くまで仕上げた楠木石切場に対し、当石切場は荒削り段階のみである。
