Note (General): [白幡前遺跡要約] 白幡前遺跡は、印旛沼に注ぐ新川左岸の標高15ｍ〜25ｍの台地上に立地する。旧石器時代の石器群は、?層〜?層のほぼ全層から53か所の集中地点が検出された。遺構としては、?層〜?層の第２文化層から炉跡が検出された。遺跡の中心の時期は第２文化層で、多くの礫群と40点を超すナイフ形石器が出土している。縄文時代は空白期間となり、弥生時代後期の竪穴住居跡が17軒調査された。出土土器は少ないが、東関東系の土器がほとんどである。古墳時代の竪穴住居跡は５軒のみで、すべて後期の所産である。本遺跡の主体を占める集落は奈良・平安時代で、竪穴住居跡279軒、掘立柱建物跡150棟など、８世紀中葉〜10世紀前半の大規模な集落である。特筆される遺構は、周囲を溝で囲まれた四面廂建物を中心とした集落内寺院である。区画内の竪穴住居跡から瓦塔も出土している。瓦塔のほかにも、奈良三彩小壺や和同開珎、多量の墨書土器が検出されており、萱田遺跡群の中心集落と考えられる
