Note (General): [禁野本町遺跡(第172次) 要約] 【古代】奈良時代後半から平安時代中期前半にかけての掘立柱建物57棟、柵列(塀)17棟、井戸10基、窪地状遺構(南北道路遺構)などを検出した。調査区の西辺部に位置する南北道路遺構は、本遺跡の南側に位置する百済寺跡の南北中軸線と、その北延長部で検出された南北道路状遺構とほぼ同方位で、西へ約2町(214m)に位置しており、既存の研究で指摘されている方形街区を構成する街路となる可能性が高い。その東側に展開する掘立柱建物群は、柵列(塀)や溝によって計画的に区画された敷地内に、整然と配置されていた。この宅地は、桓武朝に最盛期を迎えており、百済寺跡を基軸とした方形街区を伴う町の本格的な整備と連動して、建設が進められたとの理解が可能となった。【近代】禁野火薬庫にかかわる5棟の倉庫、2本の道路、貯水池などのほか、倉庫の内外でトロッコ軌道や転車台が検出された。倉庫間を縫うように繋ぐトロッコ軌道は、各施設間の主要な物資運搬のために採用され、それは近代的な物流システムの一定の到達点を示す、良好な資料と言える。
