Note (General): 城山遺跡は、旧石器時代～近世・近代にかけての複合遺跡である。今回検出された遺構は、旧石器時代の石器ブロック１ヶ所、縄文時代の土坑３基、古墳時代中・後期の住居跡17軒・土坑１基・ピット１本、平安時代の住居跡３軒・土坑２基、中世以降の土坑52基・溝跡２本などである。　縄文時代の遺構では、３基の土坑が検出されている。そのうち、683Ｄは袋状を呈するものであり、時期については、小破片であるが条痕文系土器が８点（と比較的に安定して）出土していることから、縄文時代早期と考えれる。　古墳時代中・後期の住居跡17軒については、調査区内から密集して重複した状況で検出された。住居跡の時期は、出土土器の特徴から、５世紀中葉～７世紀中葉に位置付けられる。　平安時代の住居跡3軒については、９世紀中葉～後葉に比定されるものである。241Ｈからは皇朝十二銭の１つである「富壽神寳」（初鋳818年）が２枚出土したことに注目される。特に「富壽神寳」の近くからは、鉄鎌の完形品１点と土錘１点が出土している状況から、「富壽神寳」の受容やその役割などを考える上で重要な資料となりうるであろう。　中世以降では、調査区西半部から多く検出された溝状に細長い土坑が特徴的である。また、629Ｄは地下室であった。
