Note (General): （古賀遺跡　第１次）終戦後の市営住宅造成の際、当調査地の西側で炭化米が出土したと伝わる。また、大善寺玉垂宮との位置関係から、縁起に描かれた「古賀軍司長者屋敷」の比定地となっている。今回は、上津荒木川に面した低台地上の東端部において、面的な調査を実施したが、これらに関連する遺構は検出されなかった。しかし、出土遺物には八女市牛焼谷窯跡産の可能性がある古瓦が見られた。この瓦は、広川流域の官衙関連遺跡や寺院などで出土しており、近辺に公的施設が存在する可能性がある。一方、弥生時代前期末～後期にかけての甕棺墓や土壙墓を検出しており、この台地が弥生時代の墓地であったことが判明した。（古賀遺跡　第２次）南北溝は、幅90cm、深さ70cmで断面形状は逆台形を呈し、掘削後維持管理されていたが、最終的には人為的に埋め戻されている。埋土中からは大量の甕棺片が出土し、埋め戻しの際に近辺の甕棺墓が相当数破壊されたものと思われる。埋土中からは甕棺に混じって、８世紀代の須恵器数点が出土しており、奈良時代の溝と考えられる。その規模や方向性から、官衙関連遺跡の区画溝である可能性がある。
