Note (General): 中野遺跡は志木市の西部に位置し、柳瀬川右岸の標高 10 ｍ程の台地上に立地している。従前の調査により、旧石器時代・縄文時代・弥生時代・古墳時代・平安時代・中世・近世の遺構と遺物が見つかっている。　今回の調査でも縄文時代・弥生時代・古墳時代・平安時代の遺構と遺物が見つかった。縄文時代早期では炉穴・土坑に伴い早期末葉の土器が出土している。住居跡は中期中葉のものであった。中期後葉から後期初頭にかけては土坑が密集して検出された。土器の出土状態から墓壙の可能性があるものも存在する。　　弥生時代では後期前葉から後葉の住居跡が７軒見つかっている。住居跡は平面形は小判形と略円形のものが認められるが、主柱穴 4 本で、貯蔵穴を持つなど、構造的に類似するものである。遺物は甕形土器と壷形土器が中心で、壷形土器は赤彩されたものが多く出土している。　古墳時代では 5 世紀後葉から 6 世紀中葉までの住居跡が６軒見つかっている。カマド内から使用時の様子が分かるような状態で甕形土器が出土した。遺物は土師器坏形土器・甕形土器・高杯形土器が出土している。　平安時代では住居跡が８軒見つかっている。カマドを付け替えたものや、住居内に小鍛冶炉を持つものが検出している。遺物は土師器坏形土器・甕形土器、須恵器坏形土器・甕形土器、小口径羽口などが出土している。
