上粕屋・鳥居崎遺跡は、上粕屋扇状地上に立地しており、今回の調査は県道611号の向かいに位置する初回調査に続く第2次調査である。検出された遺構は平安時代の土坑・ピットが主体となっており、その内2基は所謂「円形土坑」と呼ばれたものであった。また、縄文時代の包含層中より、集石の構成礫の可能性も考えられる焼礫がやや散漫な状況で出土している。この事から、今後周辺の調査において、該期の遺構等が確認される可能性がある。
