桜畑遺跡は平塚市北西部の伊勢原台地上に位置し、遺跡の北側は伊勢原市と接触している。本遺跡11地点で調査が行われ、弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の竪穴住居跡、方形周溝墓等が確認されているほか、東に所在する岡崎城に関連する遺構も確認されている。本地点では台地上に安定して見られる富士黒色土層の大半が削平されて...
